What is T.A.C.T.?

Many Children today, including those with Autism/Aspergers, M.R., B.D., etc. require highly structured and organized programs implementing several disciplines at one time.  The resource professionals that serve on T.A.C.T. have special training which is used to help teachers design and implement programs for these children with especially challenging issues.

T.A.C.T. is a member of the Neurological Disabilities Support Project through the Kansas State Department of Education and participates yearly in outreach trainings.

*Student Assessment T.A.C.T. is trained to perform standardized and informal assessments of target students to determine current level of functioning, leading to IEP development.
* Classroom design – T.A.C.T. can assist teachers with classroom design that promotes independent learning.
* In-service training – T.A.C.T. is available to provide staff in-services on a variety of topics. Trainings can be provided on site or at the T.A.C.T. office.
*Lending Library -- T.A.C.T. has compiled numerous resources for teachers from hands on materials to instructional books that are available for check out.
*Consultation -- T.A.C.T. is available to consult with teachers regarding program set up, IEP development, behavior management techniques, establish learning styles, and other areas of need.
Inservice/Trainings T.A.C.T. is able to provide in-service trainings at individual school sites or at the T.A.C.T office. The following topics are currently available for training opportunities:

*Teaching Students with Asperger’s Syndrome
*Structured Teaching *Programs (TEACCH Model)
*Social Stories
*Sensory Integration
*Visual Schedules 
*Workboxes in the classroom 
*Boardmaker & Picture This (software overviews)

Library                    T.A.C.T. has compiled numerous resources available for teachers to borrow.  These materials are available for a one month check out and can be delivered to a classroom upon request.  The following is a small list of items available in the Lending Library.
