DOWNLOADING NORTON VIRUS DEFINITIONS

When a computer has virus it needs to be disconnected from the network. Below is a method to update the virus definitions without compromising other network computers.

 Please disconnect your computer from the network and contact your local Tech support staff if you have a virus on your computer

• Download the latest Norton Virus definitions from http://www.symantec.com/downloads/ (Select Virus Definition Updates->Select Download Virus Definitions (Intelligent Updater Only) -> Highlight  Norton Antivirus for Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP->Select download updates

• Save the file to an external drive or CD

• Copy the file to the desktop of the computer that needs updated
• Double click the file to update the virus definitions

• Start a Norton scan on the hard drive- Many viruses can only be removed when the scan runs in "Safe Boot" with system restore turned off
